Many people struggle with the question "Why do bad things happen to good people?" Though none of us are sinless (Rom 3:23) it is sometimes true that god-fearing people endure the worst of sufferings, while the godless seem to prosper. How do we handle:
- a Christian with a chronic or terminal illness?
- a believing couple who lose a child?
- a follower of Jesus, who through no fault of their own, loses their job and their home?
The book of Job helps us to think about such questions. Job loses everything and is left to confront God in all his confusion and anguish. May we learn some of the lessons Job learned throughout his curriculum of suffering.
